This collection consists largely of photonegatives, with a few photoprints and color transparencies. Images include portraits of faculty and staff, 1931-1951; pre-registration meeting, September 1941; the home of Prof. Robert Swain, 1936; campus buildings; and miscellaneous campus life. Of note among the portraits are seven images of Prof. P. A. Ross with x-ray equipment, 1931. Many of these images were taken by Berton W. Crandall, professional photographer. There is also a series of negatives by Stanford Daily photographers, 1961 and undated; of note are images of an anti nuclear bomb rally on campus, the old bike shop, a stunt done with Dean of Students H. Donald Winbigler, and the Encina Hall lobby when women students were first housed there.
