G. Sidney Smith papers, 1870-1896.

Letters to this St. Paul (Minn.) agent for subscription books, mainly relating to publication of various Civil War era politicans' and military officers' memoirs, and his subscription book (1873-1878) for the 1873 revised American Cyclopaedia. The letters include several from Minnesota political leaders and Confederate notables. The subscription book contains a prospectus, list of contributors, sample pages, and 41 pages of Minnesota subscribers.
