List of stockholders, 1830.

This manuscript lists the namesof people who were delinquetn in payign for $3,636 worth of stock in the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in November 1830. Entries are arranged alphabetically and record the amount due as well as comments regarding attempts to contact the stockholders, e.g. "called," "has no money just now," "sick," and "got angry." Representatives of the more prominent artists who were stockholders include John Sargeant, Thomas Sully, and the entire Peale family which was "not to be called on," save for Franklin. The sum indicates that $3,636 worth of payments were outstanding at the time. Also included is an insurance policy from 1902 for the transport of Homer and Lockwood paintings owned by the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
