Collection, 1929-1985, (bulk 1929-1937, 1980-1985).

The Paul Patrick Rogers Collection, 1929-1985 (bulk 1929-1937) documents his trip to Spain as an observer during the Spanish Civil War in 1937 through a diary, travel documents, photographs, political cartoons, and other ephemera. These materials include a manuscript poem written and inscribed by Langston Hughes, given to Rogers in Spain. His correspondence with various colleagues in the disciplines of Spanish and American literature during the 1930s and the early part of the 1980s concerns his personal life and his work as a poet, critic, and translator. Included are communications with Joseph Blotner regarding his biography of William Faulkner, whom Rogers knew as a young man. Other correspondents include Leon Félipe, Gene Lyons, Paul MacEchron, and Constancia de la Mora.
