Correspondence, chiefly with Hiram Hitchcock (1832-1900), biographical material, pamphlets and periodicals, newspaper clippings relating to Cesnola's archaeology collection from Cyprus and its sale to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and other papers. Includes 16 letters relating to his Civil War service, and material relating relating to the lawsuit in which he became involved when the authenticity of his artifacts was questioned by Gaston L. Feuardent, head of the New York branch of Rollin & Feuardent, numismatic firm of Paris and London. Also includes uncorrected galley for McFadden's book, The glitter and the gold.
