James S. Dickerson and family papers, 1839-1907.

Letters of Dickerson, a Baptist minister and publisher in the East and Chicago, describing his education at Madison University, Hamilton, N.Y. (1840-1848), a European tour (1871), family matters, and daily life. Correspondence (1886-1907) of his son, James Spencer Dickerson, as writer and editor for various religious and secular publications, largely in Chicago. A letter (1850) from a Mrs. Webber, describing in detail a journey from Buffalo, N.Y., through Illinois to Minnesota.
