In this interview, Heinsheimer focuses on two Weill-related events: a production of Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny in Vienna in 1932 (which Heinsheimer directed), and the publication of Weill's American folk opera Down in the Valley (1948) by Schirmer. He also goes into the impact of Die Dreigroschenoper in 1928 on Weill's reputation and on the public.

As a result of the success of his Broadway musical Lady in the dark in 1941, German-born composer Kurt Weill and his wife, the singing actress Lotte Lenya, were able to buy "Brook House," in Rockland County, New York, moving there during their sixth year in the United States.
