Division subject files, 1975-[ongoing].

Documents relating to all aspects of Women's Division operations. Included are correspondence, memos, photographs, and working papers of the Division Director and staff. For the years 1975-1982, files are maintained in separate subseries for each staff person (Mary B. Nicholas, Director; Angela Cabrera, Deputy Director; Libby Antarsh, Associate Director for Legislation; and Bernice Powell and Rhonda Kirschner, Special Assistants). In addition, separate subseries are maintained for files concerning the 1977 New York State Women's Meeting and the 1981 Rural Women's Conference. Included in the State Women's Meeting files are 18 video tape cassette recordings of the conference proceedings.

Articles I and IV of the State Constitution authorize the governor to grant executive clemency to convicted criminials (Executive Law, Sections 15-19). Among the types of clemency offered is restoration of citizensip rights, by which the governor restores civil rights lost as a result of a conviction (e.g. right to vote, right to hold public office).
