Personal correspondence of Wilkinson and his wife, Mary Short. Letters (1855-1885) received from Nancy Willard and her granddaughter, Thetis Bush, provide information about religious practices, the Temperance movement, problems with blacks, crop conditions, and community events in Collinsburg, Bossier Parish, Louisiana. Civil War correspondence describes camp life at Camp Milldale, Camp Bragg, Camp Dahlgren, and Corinth, Mississippi; the Confederate conscription; the battle at Shiloh; hardships on women; the siege of Vicksburg; and other topics. Miscellaneous material includes a list of names and birth dates (1778-1837) of the Short family. The minutes of the Mississippi Baptist Association's annual anniversaries (1846, 1851-1860, 1863-1886) are printed in the 32 pamphlets.
