Three entries probably in the hand of Cornelis van Ruyven, provincial secretary, the first two (Jan. 10) relating to the case of Jacob Cohen, a Jew of New Amsterdam, accused of smuggling two hogsheads of tobacco, and the third (Jan. 18) relating to a vacancy in the position of fire brigade officer owing to the absence from New Amsterdam of J.P. Jaquet, recently named commander-in-chief of the Dutch colony on the South (Delaware) River, in whose stead Christiaen Barentsen was selected.
