These files consist of (1) records created by divisions of the Department in carrying out the Department's responsibilities in matters arising under U.S. laws and on which legal action was taken or considered, and (2) records created by the Department on administrative matters relating to the Department and its subordinate units. Included are letters received, copies of letters sent, memorandums, reports, copies of court case papers, and other records in the correspondence files. The separate enclosure files include copies of bulky court case documents such as briefs and transcripts of record, books, pamphlets, and other records.
