Three letters of introduction from professionals in San Francisco relating to Turrill's photographing oil fields in Calif. for the 1901 Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, N.Y.; a letter to Turrill, dated Oct. 16, 1900, from the Secretary of the California Petroleum Miners' Association, notifying him of his appointment as their official photographer; and a letter to Turrill, dated Mar. 16, 1901, from the manager of The mining and engineering review, authorizing him to take photographs for reproduction in their publication. Four of the letters include envelopes.
