The Governor is the chief executive of the state whose function is to administer the laws of the state. One of the activities used to accomplish this function is the appointing of individuals to various state and local offices and the signing of grants and commissions. This series consists largely of correspondence concerning county judicial appointments made by the Governor. The files contain information regarding the contenders for the District Attorney position in Madison County: Morris "Mo" Brooks, Fred Fohrell, Tim Morgan, and Ken Taylor. There are letters of recommendation for the following Montgomery County District Attorney contenders: John C. Bell, Ellen Brooks, Gunter Guy, Mark Montiel, and Terry Travis. The results of a straw poll conducted in Talladega County in 1990 July for the office of probate judge is also included.
