Alabama associations collection,1850-1984.

This collection contains a wide variety of materials, such as minutes, programs, and histories from various associations throughout the state of Alabama. The associations represented in the collection include fraternal organizations, service organizations, professional associations, patriotic organizations, political groups, African American organizations, women's clubs, and other groups that were formed because of common interests. Political groups in the collection include the Ala. Communist Party, the Ala. Democratic Party, the Socialist Party, and the Ala. Progressive Party. Women's groups include the Equal Suffrage Association, the Business and Professional Women's Clubs, the Federation of Women's Clubs, the Junior League of Montgomery, the Ladies Memorial Association, and the Mother's Circle. Professional associations include the Ala. Cattlemen's Association, Ala. Commercial and Industrial Association, Ala. Education Association, Ala. Medical Association, the Ala. Press Association, and the State Bar Association. Patriotic groups represented include the American Legion, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, United Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Colonial Dames.
