These records confirm the election by the Kentucky General Assembly of William Lindsay as a United States senator from Kentucky, first to fill an unexpired term in 1893, and then to a full six year term in 1894. The documents are signed by the clerks of the Kentucky Senate and House of Representatives. Upon receipt of the official notice, the governor would be able to issue a certificate of the election of Lindsay to the President of the United States Senate.
