Proclamations, commendations and appreciations, 1955-1958.

This series consists of proclamations made by the governor. The proclamations concern declarations of special days, commendations for meritorious or special services and congratulatory statements. All of the proclamations are attested by the Secretary of State and embossed with the state seal. This series also contains two different forms of proclamations: commendations and appreciations. These are more specialized forms of proclamations which are filed separately. Correspondence for/or against a specific proclamation topic is also included in this series.

James E. Folsom was born 1908 Oct. 9 to Joshua Marion and Eulala Cornelia Dunnavant Folsom in Farmer's Academy, Coffee County, Ala. When he was two the Folsom family moved to Elba. James E. was the sixth of seven children. Folsom attended public schools and attended both the University of Ala. and Howard College for short stints in the years 1927-1929.
