Letter, 1780 June 21.

Letter to John Tayler discussing the recent events of the war. Clinton remarks about the rumored capture of Philadelphia and states that "it is in the hands of the enemy. If it was not we should have an equal right to expect and authentic contradiction as a confirmation of the fact..." He also comments on the recent act of the legislature authorizing a regiment of levies. He asks Tayler to recommend a suitable commander for the troops. The letter was written at Kingston, N.Y.
