General files, 1910-1980 (bulk 1930-1980).

The General Files document Consumers' Research's extensive interest in topics considered of importance to the consumer. These files were used as a subject file in the areas of politics, government, consumer issues, economics, labor, the consumer during the Second World War, food, and medicine. General file materials were gathered to chronicle organizations, products, or movements of interest to Consumers' Research. The files were also used for basic research. These files were updated continually during the 1930s and the decades beyond and so contain a wide range of subjects beyond consumerism. Included in this material are correspondence, newspaper and magazine clippings, scholarly and technical journal articles, printed matter including brochures, pamphlets, magazines and newsletters, product packages and labels, notes, government publications, project files, drafts of articles and letters, and consumer-oriented and political newsletters and magazines.
