Scrapbook compiled by Selma Dean containing photographs, clippings, and memorabilia concerning the Dean and Madsen families of Scandinavia, Wis. Also included are a brief reminiscence by Dean about her early life in the Norwegian American community in central Wisconsin, her education, and work as a school teacher; and several letters from her son Robert, a career Air Force officer, containing his views on the Cold War in 1953 and observations after his arrival in Vietnam in 1967.

At Harris Neck, Georgia, in the remote northern reaches of McIntosh County, the United States government, in the fall of 1942, confiscated the lands along the South Newport and Barbour Island Rivers.
