Margaret Bingham Stillwell papers, ca. 1925-1984.

Consists of correspondence (bulk), writings, photographs, galley proofs, filmstrips, and clippings dating from ca. 1925 to 1984. The collection documents the work of bibliographer Margaret Bingham Stillwell (1887-1984), librarian of the incunabula collection of the Annmary Brown Memorial from 1917 to 1953. Subjects in the correspondence include reference inquiries, incunabula in American libraries, Stillwell's publications, projects, and personal matters. There are research materials for a monograph on the Gutenberg Catholicon and other publications and galley proofs for bibliographies of incunabula.

In 1917 the university established the Brown War Records Bureau, whose intention was to "collect and preserve a record of all Brown men who are serving in the present war". Stillwell was the curator of the Annmary Brown Memorial Library, 1917-1953. The library was deeded to Brown University in 1948. She authored numerous books, including many on the history of printing.
