Typed manuscript of two chapters of a history of the Van Cleve family, an early Wisconsin family, whose origins are traced back to Henry IV, King of France. The narrative focuses on Charlotte Clarke Van Cleve's life as the daughter of a Minnesota trading post commander and as the wife of an army officer stationed in territorial Wisconsin. The microfilmed manuscript includes a genealogical chart of the family of Mary Mitchell White, a grand niece of Mrs. Van Cleve.
