Titles to the State Capitol at Tuscaloosa, 1825-1827.

In 1827 Jan. the Ala. General Assembly passed several acts relating to the construction of a state capitol in Tuscaloosa. The acts required that the Attorney General secure "good and sufficient titles" in the name of the Governor to be filed with the Secretary of State (Acts of Ala. 1826-1827, pp. 3-6). This series consists of those titles and related items. Included are deeds and contracts between the State and Commissioners of the town of Tuscaloosa.
