The Natural History Society was founded in April, 1840, to "form a collection in all the departments of Natual History" and to "promote the study of Natural History among its members." The celebration of the 150th anniversary of the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in the Dartmouth College Case was held on April 9, 1969, in the Court of Claims, Washington, D.C.; the celebration also commemorated the career of Daniel Webster, the advocate who defended the case before the Supreme Court.
