Calvin F. Hawkinson papers, 1942-1995.

The collection focuses on the law enforcement career of Calvin F. Hawkinson, from his start in 1942 as a uniformed patrolman in the 6th Precinct of the Minneapolis Police Dept. until his retirement as chief of the dept. in 1968, as well as his tenure as chief of the Plymouth Police Dept., 1968-1978. Included are oral reminiscences, scrapbooks, notebooks, intelligence files, surveillance recordings, procedural manuals, training materials, speech notes, photographs, and sound recordings.

Calvin F. Hawkinson, the son of Carl F. and Laura C. Hawkinson, was born in St. Paul on October 17, 1915. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1933 and was employed by Butler Bros., a general wholesale company in Minneapolis, from 1933 until he entered police work in April of 1942.
