In 1848-1864, Daniel J. Hartsook was a cashier of the Bank of Howardsville, an independent bank in Albermarle Co., Va. In 1864 he also served as a local collection of the Confederate States of America tobacco tithe. In 1857-1862, Daniel J. Hartsook was an agent and executor for Mrs. Mary Walker Carter Cabell.
