The series is an embossed resolution adopted jointly by the New York State Senate and Assembly on June 10, 1996. It commemorates the 75th anniversary of the creation of a retirement system for state employees, by Chapter 741 of the Laws of 1920, which was expanded in later years to include local employees as well. The resolution declares June 9 through June 15, 1996 as "New York State and Local Retirement Systems Week."

The 332nd Infantry Regiment was part of the 83rd Division, which was deployed overseas in June 1918.
