Lillian Moore (1911-1967) was a dancer as well as a teacher and writer. She studied ballet under George Balanchine, Alexandra Fedorova-Fokine and others and modern dance under Charles Weidman. The National Ballet was founded in 1962 by Jean Riddell and was disbanded in 1974. Frederick Franklin was artistic director throughout its existence. The Ballet performed at the Kennedy Center and George Washington University's Lisner Auditorium.
