St 1869, c 420 established the State Board of Health and Vital Statistics, generally known as the State Board of Health. It was abolished by St 1879, c 291, which transferred its functions to the State Board of Health, Lunacy, and Charity. St 1886, c 101 renamed that body the State Board of Lunacy and Charity and reestablished the State Board of Health. The State Board of Health, established in 1869, was abolished in 1879, and its functions absorbed by the State Board of Health, Lunacy, and Charity until 1886, when its was re-established.
