Daybook, 1850-1851.

Records income and expenses of the Pembroke Iron Works in 1850 and 1851. Entries are fairly detailed and provide a variety of information about the operation of an iron works that made such items as rails, nails, furnace parts, pumps, etc. Descriptions of payments made to workers included the number of days of work and the jobs performed; for instance, "three days at vise bench," "work at fixing pumps," "work at racks," "cutting ends of rails," and making "brass box patterns." Expenses for insurance, materials (lumber, bricks, glue, etc.), shipping, and travel of associates is included as is income from the rent of shops. An early entry states "going to Boston with estimates of lose by fire." Watts' tax bills are laid in.
