Panorama photograph collection 1913-ca. 1942.

Panorama photographs were popular during the early twentieth century, especially those made of units during World War I. This collection consists of 776 photographs; the majority of them are of military units in Alabama. There are 22 photographs of the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Alabama Infantry Regiments in the Punitive Expedition in Mexico. There are 506 photographs of the 37th Infantry Division (Ohio National Guard) and other units training at Camp Sheridan, Montgomery, Ala. The 29th Infantry Division units (Virginia National Guard) training at Camp McClellan, Anniston, Ala., are depicted in 107 photos. Other photographs included in the collection are of Camp Wheeler (Ga.), Fort McPherson (Ga.), Camp Gordon (Ga.), Camp Zachary Taylor (Ky.), Camp Sevier (S.C.), Camp Stanley (Tx.), Camp Rose (Ind.), Camp Merritt (N.J.), Camp Sherman (Oh,) and Camp Robinson (Wis). Some photogrphas depict civilian events, both pre-war and post-war, such as: a centennial celebration at Horseshoe Bend (Ala.), masonic conferences, Auburn faculty and students and United Confederate Veterans reunions. These images were made by numerous photographers in the early 1900s. The majority are of company size units lined up for a group photo in front of their camp in 1917 or 1918. Other photographs depict fraternal or patriotic organization meetings in the early 1900s.
