Treatise on Spanish colonial economy: Manuscript, 1785.

Treatise on Spanish colonial economy: Manuscript, 1785.

A treatise by an unidentified Spanish economist debating the merits of colonial manufacturing--textiles and minerals--versus production at home, as well as Oriental trade. He seems to be calling into question the long term economic impact of colonization. This document was written during a period of Spanish instability and warfare, followed by revolution in Spain's New World colonies. References are made to the theoretical work of Jonathan Swift.
