Miscellaneous papers, 1857-1873.

The bulk of the papers are letters sent to Eugene du Pont by his mother while he was in school in Philadelphia (1857-1859). She wrote to him about domestic matters, including her hobby of painting, plumbing for the house, family pets, taking food to the poor, and having dental work performed. There are also several letters to Eugene from his sister Fanny du Pont and his cousin and future wife Amelia (Amy) du Pont. There are a few letters to Eugene after he had joined the company and was living at Hagley and his Civil War draft papers (1863). There is also a printed copy of Admiral S. F. Du Pont's funeral sermon (1865).
