Photograph album depicting the history of The Dalles, Or. in photographs, compiled and photographed by The Dalles Camera Club in July 1950, with historical texts written by Judge Frederick Wallace Wilson. Most of the photographs are reproductions of earlier photos and drawings dating from circa 1847-1906. Subjects include the Methodist mission founded by Jason Lee in 1838; buildings at Fort Dalles; the Oregon-Washington Railroad and Navigation Company's railroad lines; businesses and other buildings, including the first Wasco County courthouse; residents, including writer Joaquin Miller; the 1894 flood; views of the Columbia River and steamboats; and Ezra Meeker at the "End of the Oregon Trail" monument dedication in 1906, among other subjects. Photographs were taken and/or supplied by Wanda Muir Gifford; Frederick Wallace Wilson; Walter Blaser; Thelma Cox; William Howard McNeal; and Elite Studio, among others. A loose card stored with the album contains the following inscription: "To Ralph E. Moody / In Appreciation of many kindnesses to / Fred W Wilson / JULY 1950."

Joseph Gardner Wilson (1830-1873) was an Oregon Supreme Court justice who came to the state in 1852. He was elected to Congress in 1872 but died the following year in Ohio.
