Biography William J. Losh was born in Oakland, California, October 1, 1896. After serving in World War I in the Army Ambulance Service, he returned to graduate from Stanford University in 1920. He worked as manager of the California Stelos Company and later as a newspaper reporter for the San Francisco NEWS (1933-34) and as a columnist for the San Francisco EXAMINER (1934-38).
