John Edward Eckert Papers 1917-1966

John Edward Eckert (1895-1975) served as Professor of Entomology at the University of California, Davis from 1931-1962. The majority of his Papers contain his correspondence on subjects such as ants, bee diseases, honey marketing, and queen bees, among other topics. Also included are Eckert's writings, research materials, and some photographs on apiculture subjects.

John Edward Eckert was born on January 1, 1895 in Ohio. He received a B.S. in Agriculture (1916), an M.S. in Entomology (1917), and a PhD (1931) from Ohio State University. He began his career as an entomologist in North Carolina as a nursery inspector and then became Assistant Professor of Entomology (1919-1922) followed by Associate Professor of Entomology (1922-1924) at North Carolina State College.
