Gregory Benford was born January 30, 1941, in Mobile, AL. He earned college degrees through the Ph. D. in physics from 1960 – 1967. Benford is a practicing scientist, a professor of physics at the University of California, Irvine. Benford has been honored with the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship; Nebula Awards, John W.
