This collection comprises correspondence, clippings, business cards, photographs, and publications covering Katsuo Kuno's gift of 35 Kazuo Shibata paintings of Japanese national park scenes to the University of California, Irvine. These materials were originally collected in a scrapbook by Clayton Garrison of the School of Fine Arts, who handled the transfer of the gift in 1982. This collection also contains a bound catalog of Shibata's paintings which is annotated with each painting's location on the UCI campus.

Katsuo Kuno, a prominent farmer in the Nukata District of the Aichi Prefecture near Nagoya, Japan, donated the 35 Shibata paintings to the University of California, Irvine in 1982.
