William C. Edgar was the publisher and editor of the Northwestern Miller, a flour milling trade journal published in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1906 Edgar started The Bellman as an outlet for his writing interests and ran it from the offices of the Northwestern Miller. During the later years of The Bellman's publication, Edgar became involved in famine relief efforts in Belgium during World War I.
