John Creed Moore (1824-1910) was a Confederate general and West Point graduate. Before the Civil War, Moore married Augusta Estell Clark (1832-1907), and the couple eventually had three children. Moore raised and trained the Second Texas Infantry for the Confederate Army. After receiving a citation for gallantry in leading his regiment at the battle of Shiloh, Moore was promoted to brigadier general on May 26, 1862.
