Superseding the General Assembly of the Faculty (See Series 81 ) in 1932, the University Senate was chartered as "the supreme legislative body of the University." Whereas the General Assembly included all faculty and administrative personnel, the University Senate consisted of administrators, deans or directors of University colleges and departments, and elected representatives with the rank of assistant professor or above.
