Columbus Delano was a resident of Mount Vernon, Ohio. Delano was later a United States Representative and Secretary of the Interior under President Grant. The collection includes a letter, 1834, from Delano to his future mother-in-law asking permission to marry her daughter, and correspondence, 1836-1839, between Delano, away on business, and his wife at home at Mount Vernon, Ohio, including a letter describing Philadelphia.
