Lyman Louis Lemnitzer (August 29, 1899 – November 12, 1988) was born in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. He received his commission in the Coast Artillery Corps from West Point in 1920 and was an instructor at West Point from 1926 to 1930, and again in 1934 and 1935. Carl Andrew Spaatz (born Spatz; June 28, 1891 – July 14, 1974), nicknamed "Tooey", was an American World War II general. As commander of Strategic Air Forces in Europe in 1944, he successfully pressed for the bombing of the enemy's oil production facilities as a priority over other targets. Hoyt Sanford Vandenberg (January 24, 1899 – April 2, 1954) was a United States Air Force general.
