Lyman Louis Lemnitzer (August 29, 1899 – November 12, 1988) was born in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. James Elbert Briggs (1906-1979) was born in Rochester, New York, the son of Bendsmin Robert and Marion Cypert Briggs. He entered the New York Military Academy in 1920 and, as an honor graduate, in 1924 received a presidential appointment to the U.S. Military Academy. Donald Prentice Booth (1902-1993) was born in Albany, New York. From West Point, he commissioned with the Corps of Engineers in 1926. During World War II he served with the Persian Gulf Command.
