This series consists of photographs relating to the construction of dams and projects. Images depict the construction process and associated beaches, locks, channels, transmission lines, bridges, substations, and causeways. There are also photographs of the relocation of houses and highways required by the dam construction. The majority of the photographs depict the Saint-Lawrence Seaway Power Project undertaken by the New York Power Authority and Ontario Hydro. The dams constructed by this project include the Robert Moses-Robert H. Saunders Dam, the Long Sault Dam, and the Iroquois Dam. One photograph shows former President Harry S. Truman and artist Thomas Hart Benton viewing a mural painted by Benton for the New York Power Authority. There are also photographs of Congressional inspection visits. The second largest group of photographs shows another New York Power Authority project. The Niagara Power Project was built near Niagara Falls, New York. The smallest group of images illustrates the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam. This dam is located in Arizona on the Colorado River.
