Gerald Rudolph Ford, the 38th President of the United States, was born Leslie Lynch King, Jr., the son of Leslie Lynch King and Dorothy Ayer Gardner King, on July 14, 1913, in Omaha, Nebraska. His parents separated two weeks after his birth, and his mother took him to Grand Rapids, Michigan, to live with her parents. Paul Andrew Miltich was born on October 30, 1919 in Virginia, Minnesota. He attended Virginia Junior College from 1937 to 1939, and received a B.S. with highest distinction from the University of Minnesota in 1941. He was an English and dramatics instructor at Breck School for Boys in St. Paul, Minnesota from 1941 to 1942, and he served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946.
