This series contains two files: the "Regular File" and the "Sensitive File." The files document the name of the person making the statement and captured in the abstract, the date of the statement, the forum, citation, summary of the statement, any comments from the Senate Select Committee staff, names of all persons mentioned or quoted, date of event, and general subjects of the statement. The Regular File contains abstracts of information from the following source documents: transcripts of the Senate Committee's public hearings; the Watergate trial held in January 1973; the conformation hearings of Patrick Gray; selected parts of the Watergate tape hearing held early 1974 before Judge John Sirica; newspaper clippings from "The Washington Post" and "New York Times" concerning the Watergate Affair and appearing from June 17, 1972 through December 1973; selected depositions from the Democratic National Committee v. McCord, Common Cause v. FCRP, and Nader v. Butz lawsuits; documents subpoenaed from the National Archives that were deposited there by the Committee to Reelect the President; and interviews and executive sessions conducted by the staff of the Select Committee. The Sensitive File contains abstracts of information from the following sources that are of a 'sensitive nature' and were kept separately for use by Chief Counsel Samuel Dash of the Senate Select Committee and by three Assistant Chief Counsels: November 14, 1973 executive session testimony of Robert Lilly; November 16, 1973 executive session testimony of Robert Lilly; Robert Lilly Deposition in Nader v. Butz; November 15, 1973 executive session testimony of John Connally; September 11 interview with John Caulfield; September 12 interview with John Caulfield; transcripts of Senate Armed Services Committee hearings on May 11, 14, 17, 21, and 23, 1973; and three Central Intelligence Agency binders containing various affidavits, exhibits and other evidence given to the Senate Select Committee and the Senate Armed Services Committee.
