Lady Bird Johnson was born Claudia Alta Taylor in Karnack, Texas on December 22, 1912. Her parents were Thomas Jefferson Taylor and Minnie Pattillo Taylor, and she had two older brothers, Tommy and Tony. Her mother died when she was only five years old, and her Aunt Effie Pattillo moved to Karnack to look after her. Robert LeRoy Knudsen (1929-1989) graduated from the Naval Photographic School in Pensacola, Florida. He was a White House photographer for five Presidents' administrations: Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon. Among his most famous photographs were the pictures of John F. Kennedy's son, John Jr., walking in the Oval Office in May 1962. He also photographed the 1948 and 1952 elections of Harry S. Truman and Dwight D.
