Seq: Van Fleet is greeted by Gen Mark Clark, Gen Otto P Weyland, USAF and others including Mr Kim, Korean Ambassador, on leaving C-121 plane at International Airport. Van Fleet poses with Clark and Weyland; they move through crowds to autos which drive off. Seq: Van Fleet shakes hands with USN, various allied officers at Tokyo International Airport. He walks up ramp with Clark to plane; they say goodbye at plane door; Van Fleet waves, enters plane. Clark, others watch by parked auto. Seq: At Far East HQ Marine Cpl watches as combined Honor Guard marches in light rain. Clark escorts R Adm Francis X McInerney followed by Adm Ragan, Maj Gen Moore, Maj Gen Shoosmith, Maj Gen Lawton and Lt Gen Doyle O Hickey into FEC ceremony area. Clark, McInerney, others troop line; salute; leave. Seq: Clark, other officers including Weyland, Adm Briscow, Gen Harrison, Adm Ragan, Shoosmith, Moore, Lawton and Hickey escort Van Fleet into ceremony area where they salute; troop the line. Clark pins the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster on Van Fleet. Officers congratulate Van Fleet. Francis Xavier McInerney was born March 28, 1899, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He received his commission as Ensign in the U.S. Navy in 1920, and was admitted to the bar in Washington, D.C., in 1935.
