Project Rover Photograph Collection 1963

The Project Rover Photograph Collection is composed of the cover graphics and several photographs used as part of a brochure describing the Maintenance, Assembly and Disassembly (MAD) Building for Project Rover at the Nuclear Rocket Development Station (NRDS) in Nevada. Project Rover was an effort involving agencies such as Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory (Los Alamos National Laboratory), the Atomic Energy Commission, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, to build a nuclear reactor that could power a rocket into space. The project began in the mid 1950’s and ended in 1973.
