Dennis Hearn was born in Chesterland, Ohio in 1949. Hearn was graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kent State University in 1971 and pursued some graduate work at KSU in addition to performing in a number of Porthouse Theatre productions. Moving to New York, Hearn studied with drama instructor Uta Hagen. The 20th Commemoration of the Kent State shootings, held in 1990, remains one of the largest-attended of all the annual gatherings.
